Computer Animation Assignment #Dialogue: Puppet

 Computer Animation Assignment #9: Dialogue

For my last assignment for this class, I decided I would animate my character to a poem. One of my favorite poets growing up was Shel Silverstein, and as it turns out he recorded himself reading some of his short poems, and so I went with the poem "Anteater." Wanting to continue on with my b ug theme, I animated a bee character of mine name Benson. I had a lot of fun having the character move around it his small space, leaning backwards and forwards. I also wanted to really exaggerate some of the lip movements to go with the volume of his voice. Overall I had a lot of fun with animating this character and I'm glad that I got to finish the semester with this assignment :D

Computer Animation Assignment #8: Puppet

 Computer Animation Assignment #8: Puppet

This one was another huge struggle for me, specifically because I wanted to do a lot with the minute movements. Overall there was around 27 layers? For eyes, eyelids, attenae were on separate layers, a couple of layers per arm and leg. Getting it all to move together was a challenge but I did it! I did another mantis design because I designed her about a week ago and fell in love with her and wanted to make her into a pupper :D

Computer Animation Assignment #7: Walk

Computer Animation Assignment #7: Walk Cycle

Overall, I think I ended up redoing the initial rough sketch/animation around 3-4 times. I have done some walk cycles in the past, but they're always a pain to start. I settled on drawing a mantis character that I've been doodling, and decided that I would try to animate a bit of a strut into the walk cycle. It's still a bit wonky but I think it's alright. I ended up getting a bit ambitious later on and ended up animating a second little fish character which was oddly difficult to animate. I want to show it struggling to catch up and it took a lot of re-editing and moving around to get the idea across. It was fun but I think I'm done with walk cycles for a little bit.

Computer Animation Assignment #6: Weight

  Computer Animation Assignment #6: Weight

Out of all the assignments that I've done this semester, I think this was my most ambitious one. I am currently creating a rough outline for a story that takes place in space and I wanted to use two of the characters from my story, who have a very strong father-son bond. I definitely had a lot of issues with the turn around spin, edited it a whole bunch but still coming out a bit wonky. The walking at the beginning is also a bit rough, but I feel like the parts that mattered to the assignment I did well :D.

Computer Animation Assignment #5 : Headturn

 Computer Animation Assignment #5: Headturn

For this assignment I decided to animation a character from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and went with Leonardo. The show's variation of Leo is a lot more silly and exaggerated which I felt would be fun to animate. I like how this one came out, although if I went back to work on it, I would probably edit the last half. Nothing too wrong with it I would just go with a different pose and speed.

Computer Animation Assignment #4 : Pantomime

 Computer Animation Assignment #4: Pantomime

After the previous Gesture Drawings, I decided to have some fun with Pietro the Flour Sack
and some heavy weights! I initially had a lot of trouble with the walk up to the weight,
it was originally staged more differently but it kept coming out too wonky I must have reworked 3-4 times
before deciding to change it (Originally Pietro was going to strut on screen, now he falls into the scene ha). The only thing I would change would be to add shading but I ran out of time. Overall I am happy
with how this came out :D

Computer Animation Assignment #3: Gesture Drawing

Computer Animation Assignment #3: Gesture Drawing

This assignment is sorta special to me as I have recently gotten a new ipad that can double as a tablet (Originally bought a wacom one but it had really bad issues connecting with my computer sadly). For the gestures I decided to go with a mixture of flexing / Cocky body language and more lax and laid back postures. I definitely had a lot of fun with the little folds and creases of Pietro the flour sac, my favorite being the top middle pose (I like to think Pietro is mid-dance). I can't wait to see how I'll animate this sac of flour in the upcoming week :D
